Consultative Council established to link central and local government


A new Consultative Council will serve as of today as a platform for dialogue between central government and local authorities


Tirana, 19 January, 2017- For the first time in Albania the central government will be obliged to consult local government representatives regarding decentralization, local finances and municipal functions. Through the newly established Consultative Council of Central Government and Local Self-Government both levels of authorities will be able to exchange and discuss any policies, laws or initiatives that affects local government and communities.

EU supports Territorial and Administrative Reform in Albania, new agreement signed

Tirana, 20 December: The Delegation of the European Union to Albania signed today a financial agreement of EUR 3.5 million which will go to support the consolidation of the Territorial and Administrative Reform in Albania. The EU contribution to the STAR 2 project is part of an enhanced cooperation between the EU and Albania in the field of local governance. 

Swiss Government furthers its support to consolidation of the Territorial and Administrative Reform

Tirana, 1 December 2016 - The Swiss government has provided 500,000 USD to further consolidate the territorial and administrative reform in Albania. The Agreement was signed today by Swiss Ambassador to Albania Christoph Graf and UN Resident Representative Brian Williams.

Italian Government furthers its support to the Territorial and Administrative Reform: New financial agreement signed today between Government of Italy and UNDP




Tirana, 18 October: A new agreement worth USD 1.361 million was signed today between Government of Italy and UNDP to support consolidation of the Territorial and Administrative Reform in Albania. This intervention will work to strengthen institutional and administrative capacities of municipal administration to implement the reform as well as modernize public service delivery. In addition, the project will contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16-Good Governance.

National conference: Territorial Reform, the day after!
